Hello everyone.

In my posts, I have periodically mentioned that in order to use any applications or resources effectively, you need to get several higher educations, complete courses in Tajik ballroom dancing and learn Zen. In general, the essence is clear: it is so problematic that it is better not to touch at all. But then MOOCs (massive open online courses) come into the arena, and they try to ruin the flavor of the fish

I am sure that everyone, at least, met with the advertising of courses on becoming a programmer of the universal level in a day and a half without SMS, registration and a certificate of no criminal record. This thing is one of the MOOC variations. Similar courses are also opened at universities, providing free access, in words, to the same level and quality of education as classical students of these universities.

In fact, there are a lot of nuances: not all universities have the desire to open such courses; most often, universities open courses in one direction or even a subject (and this greatly reduces the complexity and effectiveness); often, such a program is only general access to various materials: textbooks, tests, lecture notes (often not all). In general, it doesn't make much sense for classical universities to do something like this purely on their own. For the sake of truth, it is worth saying that often various organizations "encourage" universities to open such programs. This gives a chance for growth for those people who, for one reason or another, could not enter the university.

Things are a little different with online courses: there are full-fledged classes, exercises, and further down the list. Only here there are nuances: it is necessary to find high-quality courses: without problems with the schedule, constant transfers, with good teachers; and most importantly: 99.9% of them are paid.

Returning to university courses: there are really high-quality courses that perform and exceed the tasks set. Good courses can give you extensive and fairly deep knowledge of certain disciplines, and sometimes give you a diploma, which will allow you to change your occupation.

In general, you should understand that MOOC is a good option, but it has its own specifics that must be taken into account when choosing a course. It is also necessary, in advance, to get acquainted with different courses, the formats of their conduct, and only then, focusing on yourself, make a choice in favor of one of them.

Peace to all.
